Dr. Agustin B. Guinid, fondly known as “Augie,” touched the lives of all who crossed his path with generosity that knew no bounds. At 70, Augie’s passing leaves a profound void, yet his vibrant legacy continues to illuminate the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and the countless individuals he inspired throughout his remarkable life.
To his family, Augie was much more than a beloved husband and father of five—he was the cornerstone of their home, a steady guiding hand, and a nurturing presence whose wisdom and compassion shaped generations. His love extended well beyond the walls of his household, embracing relatives, friends, and anyone in need of support or encouragement. Augie’s co-equal partnership in life and parenting reflected his deep respect for those he held dear, and his unwavering devotion became the foundation upon which his family flourished.
Augie’s influence radiated far into the academic world, where he served as Dean of the College of Social Work. His visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to excellence paved the way for future generations of social workers—instilling in them not only knowledge and skill, but also the empathy and integrity essential to the profession.
Augie’s dedication was evident in every lesson he taught and every student he mentored. His tireless advocacy for the Social Work and the UNP community elevated the standards of service, education, and compassion within the institution and beyond.
Those fortunate enough to know Augie remember his infectious laughter—a sound that could fill any room with joy and instantly put others at ease. Augie’s warmth was like a comforting embrace, his encouragement a beacon of hope, and his humility a lesson in true leadership.
Though Augie is no longer with us, his spirit endures—a vibrant thread woven into the fabric of countless lives. His legacy is not just in the achievements he garnered or the positions he held, but in the love, kindness, and inspiration he shared so freely. For his family, colleagues, students, and friends, Augie’s memory is a cherished treasure, a reminder that one person’s compassion can indeed change the world.
His story is not only one of a life well-lived, but of a spirit that will remain forever cherished and never forgotten.
