He emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and community, stating, “We stand together for the love of sports, friendship, and connection. Each of us plays a crucial role in this endeavor; let us continue to strengthen the bonds. Together, let us embrace resilience and cooperation.”
Following Dr. Avila’s remarks, Prof. Joel Arruejo, head of the Sports Program, introduced the delegates, who received enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.
The event also had an opening salvo by the Danggay Saririt Cultural Dance Troupe. Faculty from the Department of Physical Education (DPE) collaborated with the students to deliver an engaging performance that set a festive mood for the day.
The UNP community was honored to welcome Hon. He inspired attendees with the message, “Always remember that when you fly, fly high, but on borrowed wings. Spread your own wings, and let the wind blow you to the top.”
Mayor Escobar expressed his hope that the spirit of oneness and sportsmanship prevail.
He also shared a meaningful acronym for Intrams to guide participants throughout the Intramurals: Inspire others, Never give up, Try your best, Rejoice in your victory, Attain your goals, Master your skills, Stay focused on the game.
Dr. Erwin Cadorna, UNP President, delivered a compelling message during the Intramurals 2024 event, emphasizing the significance of unity and camaraderie. He articulated that these qualities not only enhance physical strength but also fortify mental resilience. Dr. Cadorna stated, “Success is not measured by trophies but by the growth and determination along the way.”
By focusing on the journey rather than just the awards, he encourages students to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, reinforcing that true achievement lies in perseverance and collaboration.
He stressed the critical role of discipline for athletes, highlighting its importance in both sports and personal well-being.
After President Erwin’s message, the field demonstration by three thousand six hundred nineteen (3,619) second-year college students took place at the UNP grounds, showcasing their grace and vibrant colorful props. This performance highlighted the talents and creativity of the students.
Following the demonstration, Mr. Ramil Lacaden, the beach volleyball men’s champion at the Regional SCUAA 2024, led the Oath of Amateurism. This solemn pledge reinforced the values of sportsmanship and fair play among all participants.
The ceremony culminated with the lighting of the torch, symbolizing unity and the spirit of competition.
