The University of Northern Philippines (UNP), through its Master of Statistics (MOS) program, conducted a needs assessment survey at Pantay Tamurong National High School on March 26, 2025. This initiative forms part of the University’s flagship extension program, “Ruknoy-Adal Estadistika,” aimed at empowering local communities and fostering partnerships.
The survey was designed to support teachers as researchers, reflecting UNP’s commitment to addressing community needs and maintaining strong connections with stakeholders. By identifying gaps and prioritizing resources, the University seeks to enhance the quality of education and improve the lives of nearby communities.
Dr. Mary Loreen Cayabyab, MOS Program Head, said that the needs assessment surveys play a critical role in modern decision-making across various sectors, including education. They provide valuable insights into the needs and preferences of target populations, enabling institutions to shape policies and allocate resources effectively.
Hence, for Pantay Tamurong National High School—the survey aims to address challenges and improve educational outcomes.
This initiative underscores UNP’s dedication to data-driven strategies that benefit both educators and students. By equipping teachers with tools to enhance their research capabilities, the program aligns with broader efforts to strengthen education in Ilocos Sur.
