The Bachelor of Science in Sanitary Engineering program of the University of Northern Philippines came under national scrutiny and validation as the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), through the Professional Regulatory Board of Sanitary Engineering, carried out a virtual program visit on April 29, 2026 to assess its compliance with professional and academic standards.
The virtual evaluation was spearheaded by PRC Board Chairman Hon. Robert S. Licup and Board Member Hon. Graciano B. Calayan, Jr. who meticulously examined the program’s academic implementation, learning facilities, and overall adherence to established professional standards, emphasizing the Commission’s commitment to ensuring excellence in professional education.
During the evaluation, the PRC lauded the university for its sustained commitment in strengthening its Sanitary Engineering program, noting steady improvements in academic delivery and program development. The Board highlighted the faculty’s strong dedication to teaching excellence, the curriculum’s responsiveness to evolving industry standards, and the institution’s proactive efforts to keep instruction aligned with current professional demands. It likewise commended the active participation of students and the university’s conducive learning environment which collectively nurture both technical proficiency and the formation of well-rounded future professionals.
The UNP College of Engineering, led by Dean Dr. Nelia Verzosa, Program Head Engr. Christy Faye Gasmen, and all the BSSE faculty members expressed their gratitude to the PRC and the Board of Sanitary Engineering for their valuable insights and guidance.
University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Rolando Navarro likewise conveyed their full support for the continued development of the program, emphasizing the university’s commitment to academic excellence and quality engineering education. The evaluation reinforces the university’s commitment to produce competent, ethical, and globally competitive sanitary engineers ready to serve the community.
