Psych Program holds 2nd Pinning Ceremony
The UNP CAS-Psychology Program held its 2nd Pinning Ceremony for Bachelor of Science in Psychology Practicum Students on January 23, 2025 at the UNP Gymnasium. This event marked a momentous occasion for the students, symbolizing their formal entry into the field of work and opportunities.
Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, inspired attendees with a message emphasizing ethical standards and excellence in their future careers.
Keynote speaker, Mr. Lordy Angelo Santos, MA, RPm, RPsy, known as Tito Mong Psychologist, delivered a compelling address on the progression of psychology as a profession in the Philippines. He encouraged students to pursue excellence and emphasized that practitioners should strive to exceed the minimum standards to enhance the field. “We shouldn’t just be nobodies; we should also strive to be somebodies,” he remarked, highlighting the importance of making a significant impact in their future careers. His insights served as a motivating call to action for the aspiring mental health professionals in attendance.
Dr. Remedios T. Navarro, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, delivered her welcome remarks that set an encouraging tone for the day. Mr. Mico M. Molina, Program Head of the BS Psychology, provided an overview of the practicum’s importance in shaping students’ academic and professional journeys.
The pinning ceremony indicates students’ formal recognition of their commitment to their chosen profession. Luis Mario O. Adolfo, a student representative, led the Pledge of Commitment, affirming their dedication to clinical, industrial, and educational practices.
