An undergraduate thesis from the University of Northern Philippines – College of Architecture and Built Environment (UNP–CArBE) secured title at the inaugural ARC Icon Futura: Future Architects Design Competition held on 14 March at the SMX Convention Center Manila.
Organized by Arc Circle Collective and tied to Worldbex Services International during the Worldbex exhibition, ARC Icon Futura spotlights unbuilt proposals from emerging student architects nationwide. A jury selected top entries for exhibition, tackling cultural, spatial, and urban challenges.
John Lloyd Tipon’s project, “Tipon-Tipon: An Immersive Design Approach in the Development of Ilocos Sur’s Cultural Performing Arts Complex,” claimed victory. This thesis envisions a performing arts complex to boost artistic expression and public engagement in Ilocos Sur.
Tipon crafted the project under mentor Ar. Charles Andrada. It had already earned Best Presentation Award at the 2025 UNP Research Congress.
UNP–CArBE shone further: Theses by Bnn Anjelo Tadeja and Marvin Bayle also made the shortlist
