UNP, Caritas NS collab for medical mission in Salcedo
To continue providing essential healthcare to individuals, the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) College of Health Sciences (CHS), and Caritas Nueva Segovia Foundation, Inc. conducted a medical mission on March 16 at St. Joseph Parish, Salcedo, Ilocos Sur that provided complimentary medical, dental, and optical services to the residents.
In addition to consultations and treatments, the event also included a rudimentary first aid lecture conducted by faculty members from the Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Services (BSEHS) program. Topics on wound care, bleeding control, animal injuries, heat emergencies, and fracture management were also discussed.
Attendees received instruction from BSEHS faculty members led by Prof. Ma. Yolanda Aquino, Program Head, with hands-on demonstrations to assist them in the practical application of these skills. A more comprehensive approach to community health was ensured by the provision of complimentary medications, eyeglasses, and dental treatments to patients.
The significance of community education and accessible healthcare was underscored by the successful collaboration between Caritas Nueva Segovia and UNP. By integrating life-saving knowledge with medical services, the mission enabled inhabitants to more effectively manage their health while receiving essential treatments.
