UNP COE shows benevolence at St. William the Hermit Church through extension activity
As part of their Project ISEM: Innovative and Sustainable Engineering Mandated to Improve Humanity, the University of Northern Philippines College of Engineering (UNP-COE), through the Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering conducted an extension activity focusing on the land survey of the front garden of St. William the Hermit Church in Magsingal, on February 20. This project aims to support communities through engineering expertise and sustainable development projects.
Led by Dr. Nelia Verzosa, college dean, this project helped in providing accurate data for an as built and proposed development plan for the church, through the conduct of aerial and land surveys.
This activity serves as a response to a letter request from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts to the St. William the Hermit Parish, wherein the UNP – COE extended its services to assist in the proposed development of the historic church grounds.
Through this project, students are being engaged in real-world projects and are being trained on how they can effectively utilize their engineering skills in supporting cultural heritage preservation.
This shows how UNP COE remains dedicated to its mission of using engineering as a tool for societal improvement, ensuring that local communities benefit from professional expertise and innovative solutions.
