UNP hosts DMMMSU for benchmarking on University Branding

A delegation from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) visited the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) today, August 6, 2025, for a benchmarking activity focused on the responsible use of the university logo and name, and institutional branding practices.

The visit to UNP of DMMMSU aimed to strengthen the latter’s protocols on branding, visual identity, and the proper use of institutional symbols. It brought together personnel from both universities in a collaborative exchange of best practices and policies.

The DMMMSU team were warmly received by UNP representatives led by Atty. Christian Philip Chan, University Legal Officer; Dr. Angelica Arquines, Officer-in-Charge of the UIO; Dr. Irene Abigail Guerrero, former UIO Director; and the UIO personnel.

The visitors were Atty. Kristine Gay Balanag, Director for Administrative Services; Atty. Rozzanne Victoria Buccat-Villamin, Director for Legal Services; Dr. Maricon Viduya, Director for Strategic Communications; Dr. Jake Alminiana, Coordinator for ICT Facilities Management; and Legal Assistants Kimberly Mae Galleta and Amira Zoe De la Cuesta.

The benchmarking discussions focused on UNP’s established guidelines on University branding, including policies on the use of its official name and logo, approval processes for public materials, and measures to prevent misuse by external entities. The UNP team also shared experiences in managing university identity across digital and print platforms, as well as safeguards implemented to protect institutional integrity.

Both parties expressed their commitment to uphold academic integrity and strengthen institutional branding through transparent, legal, and professional practices.
