The University of Northern Philippines–Laboratory Schools (UNP-LS) once again showcased its culture of excellence after earning multiple awards in Vigan City’s 2026 Nutrition Month Celebration held on July 29 at the Vigan Culture and Trade Center.
Leading UNP-LS’s roster of achievers was five-year-old Kindergarten 2 pupil Brielle Emberlee Garcia, who claimed first place in the Draw and Tell Competition. Her winning performance combined remarkable artistic creativity with poise and eloquence as she confidently conveyed the inspiration and meaning behind her artwork, earning the admiration of both judges and spectators.
Adding to UNP-LS’s string of victories, a nine-member Junior High School delegation captured the championship in the Nutri-Kalikasan Jingle Competition. Composed of Lourraine Faith Feria, Zay Oliva Corpuz, Aaliyah Bennette Aninag, Erich Danielle Quezada, Zavier Emmanuel Ricotoso, Toby Ezekiel Belvis, Keith Edward Aquino, Christopher Bajet, and Nionn Zeus Racoma, the team delivered a vibrant and crowd-pleasing performance that seamlessly blended powerful vocals, dynamic choreography, and exceptional teamwork. Their confidence, creativity, and stage presence earned them top honors.
Further highlighting UNP-LS’s strong performance, Grade 6 pupil Chief Randel Bang-asan earned second place in the Enhanced Nutri-Quiz Category. His impressive command of nutrition concepts and environmental issues, coupled with his composure under pressure, reflected the school’s commitment in developing academically competent and socially responsible learners.
UNP-LS also showcased its culinary creativity as a team of Senior High School students secured third place in the Nutri-Cookfest. Composed of Kryzan Zilry Sidingan, Barbara Noreen Martinez, and Janne Karlette Ventura, the team impressed the judges with Tokra Delight Rolls—an innovative and nutritious dish featuring tokwa and okra as its main ingredients. Their entry highlighted the students’ ingenuity in transforming locally available, healthy ingredients into a flavorful creation that embodied the spirit of this year’s Nutrition Month celebration.
The winners received plaques, certificates, and cash prizes in recognition of their accomplishments in the various competitions.
Behind the students’ remarkable achievements was the unwavering guidance of their dedicated coaches—Mr. Christian Renier Pola, Mr. Renz Vermil Ayson, Ms. Joane Gallardo, Dr. Laura Dane Rafanan, Dr. Roselyn Alan, and Ms. Angelica Romano. Through their mentorship, expertise, and commitment, they meticulously prepared the participants, empowering them to excel and bring pride to UNP-LS on the citywide stage.
The event was organized by the City Government of Vigan to raise awareness of the importance of proper nutrition, health, and environmental sustainability, anchored on this year’s theme, “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Alagaan.”
UNP-Laboratory Schools Principal Dr. Aurelia Vitamog credited the students’ remarkable success to the unwavering support of the University administration and the dedication of both participants and coaches. She emphasized that despite classes having resumed only on July 15, the learners rose to the challenge and delivered award-winning performances, proving that excellence is driven not merely by time, but by commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
