A simple act of honesty by a utility worker at the University of Northern Philippines has earned him praise from the school community. Roderick Leti, a dedicated staff member, was recognized for returning a lost wallet containing 20,550 pesos to its rightful owner, first-year BSMLS student Nicole Friala.
Leti found the wallet while performing his duties on campus. Instead of keeping the money, he immediately took steps to locate the owner and ensure its safe return. Friala, who had been worried about losing such a large amount, was relieved and grateful for Leti’s honesty.
In recognition of his integrity, UNP officials — including Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Fatima Rocamora, Vice President for Finance and Administration, Mr. Albert Tejero, and College of Health Sciences Dean Joussie B. Bermio — awarded Leti a Certificate of Appreciation and a cash reward on February 24, 2025.
Students, faculty and staff praised Leti’s noble act, with many saying his honesty serves as an inspiration. At a time when such gestures can be rare, his actions stand as proof to the importance of doing the right thing, regardless of the circumstances.
