UNP’s Kill Love Band triumphs in Ilocos Sur’s Battle of the Bands
Kill Love Band, a talented group of student musicians from the University of Northern Philippines – College of Business Administration and Accountancy (UNP-CBAA), emerged as the champion in the non-professional category of the Battle of the Bands hosted by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, held on February 5, 2025, at the Quirino Grand Stadium.
The grand competition screened 35 bands vying for the title. After a rigorous selection process, only five finalists advanced to the final showdown, where Kill Love Band delivered an electrifying performance that secured them the top spot.
In addition to winning the championship title, Kill Love Band also earned the Best in Vocals and Best in Keys awards, further showcasing their musical excellence. The band is composed of Lorelei Alquiza (vocalist), Kenny Clyde Antiporda (drummer), Russel Reotorio (lead guitarist), and John Rence Severo (bass guitarist). Their remarkable stage presence, technical skills, and dynamic chemistry impressed both the judges and the audience.
Their victory marks a proud moment for UNP, highlighting the exceptional talent and artistry of its students. The event not only showcased the province’s thriving music scene but also provided a platform for young musicians to shine.
With this achievement, Kill Love Band continues to elevate UNP’s reputation in the arts and culture scene, inspiring fellow students to pursue their passion for music.
“We are proud of this achievement—it reflects our talent, dedication, and hard work. Performing on such a big stage was an incredible experience, and we hope to inspire others, especially the younger generation. We’re grateful to everyone who supported us and to God for these talents. We’ll keep performing, improving, and inspiring,” said vocalist Lorelei Alquiza.
