Students with OFW parents encouraged to cultivate wholeness amid life’s challenges

The University Guidance and Counselling Services (GCS) spearheaded a seminar workshop titled “Wholeness in the Midst of Life’s Challenges,” for students with Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) parents.

Dr. Mariano Paterno Avila, the director of the Office of Student Affairs and Services, underscored the significance of such training-workshops for students and the importance of equipping them with the necessary tools to navigate life’s challenges effectively.

University President Erwin F. Cadorna also urged the students to embrace their journey despite the obstacles they may face. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by their OFW parents to provide for their needs and reminded them of the strength and determination instilled in them by their parents’ sacrifices.

Ms. Gabrielle Chynna A. Vale, a faculty member of the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy and resource speaker, shared her personal experience as a student with an OFW parent. Her firsthand account provided a relatable perspective for the attendees, offering insights into the unique challenges and opportunities that come with having parents working abroad.
