The UNP Public Information Office (UNP-PIO) held the training entitled I4 PRO: The Information Professional Responsive Opportunities Program for College Information Coordinators with the theme, “Strengthening our University Communications through Responsible Scholastic Journalism, Knowledge Management, Intercultural Communication and Team Coherence” on May 31, 2024 at Lola Dora’s Backyard Resort, Vigan City.
Dr. Eleanor R. Belizar represented the University President, Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, and shared an inspirational message to the participants, highlighting the importance of internal communication works among colleges. She also affirmed that the Office of the President is in support to the plans of the PIO for its upcoming campaigns. Moreover, Mr. Johnny A. Allagadan, Head of Media and Public Relations, showed gratitude for the initiative of the event since it is a great avenue to improve the University’s communication processes.
The first speaker, Ms. Joan P. Reyes, a communication instructor discussed her presentation on Responsible Scholastic Journalism on how to create boundaries for using artificial intelligence (AI) in news writing. Reyes emphasized that AI is a product of knowledge, and it offers convenience in multiple ways. However, when writing for news it should only be used for assistance and not create the entire work. She said that journalism should always have a human touch which AI cannot provide.
The training’s second speaker, Ms. Celeste Bianca G. Pajaro, media writer of the PIO talked about familiarizing with UNP social media platforms. She comprehensively presents the rising social media analytics of the University in terms of engagements. Moreover, Pajaro has shared the plans on the launching for the UNP’s official TikTok account soon which will be filled with exciting and fun content for UNPIANS.
The last speaker of the event, Ms. Joana Cara S. Medina, owner of Blue House Wellness, provided a guided meditation and yoga session for the participants and have shared the importance of taking care of our body and relaxing our mind after the hours rendered at work.
