The College of Technology, under the leadership of Dean Dr. Julius Moises S. Albalos, organized two extension programs as part of the community outreach program of UNP’s 59th founding anniversary on October 17, 2024.

The first one was at the Sto. Tomas Elementary School, Sto. Domingo, Ilocos Sur, with Acting Head Teacher Glory Jane Acosta welcoming the team.

Led by Dr. Julius Moises S. Albalos, Dean, the program aimed to provide essential services and sustainable projects, with staff, students, and instructors showcasing their skills in electrical systems, domestic appliance servicing, and fabrication.

The program included a thorough electrical wiring assessment, ensuring the safety of the school’s outlets and wiring. CTech instructors also serviced electronic appliances like electric fans and computers, improving the school’s equipment and learning environment.

Focusing on sustainability, the team built a compost pile frame, trash bin cages, and a shed for the school’s water pump, enhancing infrastructure. This extension program highlighted the instructors’ technical skills and their commitment to community service.

Meanwhile, the second one was at the Ilocos Sur Provincial Jail. This initiative aimed to equip inmates with practical skills and technical knowledge in air conditioning systems, contributing to their rehabilitation through education. The trainers were warmly welcomed by Warden Raymond T. Tabios.

Led by Prof. Nelsot Bajet from the Electrical Technology faculty, the program featured a lecture series covering the refrigeration cycle and key components of air conditioning systems. Following the lectures, participants engaged in hands-on activities, applying their new knowledge to real-world scenarios.

The activities demonstrated the College of Technology’s commitment to community outreach, offering inmates valuable skills for personal growth and future reintegration to the society.
