CTE conducts training on practical house-wiring
As part of its ongoing commitment to community development, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) held another installment of its “Securing Future: Livelihood and Skills Training Program” in Brgy. Bucalag, Santa, Ilocos Sur on November 6.
The specific activity, titled “Training-Workshop on Practical House-Wiring: Electrical PVC Layouting, Wire Splicing/Connecting, and Installing of Electrical Fixtures,” catered to the barangay officials and community members of Bucalag.
The event began with an opening program that highlighted the importance of the continued partnership between UNP-CTE and the Bucalag community.
Dr. Jojit Aquino, program head of the BTVTEd and BTLEd programs, emphasized in his message the University’s commitment to empowering communities through relevant and practical training initiatives.
Dr. Efren U. Galapon, CTE extension coordinator, underscored the significance of the activity, stressing its role in equipping participants with essential skills to address local electrical needs.
Mr. Roy Mendoza, barangay councilor, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the barangay captain, thanking UNP-CTE for selecting Bucalag once again for its outreach programs and reaffirming the strong bond between the barangay and the University.
The training’s highlight was the hands-on session conducted by Dr. Jake Quitasol. Participants actively engaged in practical house-wiring techniques.
Following the workshop, a needs assessment survey was facilitated by Mr. Randall Rabacal and Mr. Gian Paulo Avera from the University Extension Office. This survey aimed to gather insights for future initiatives tailored to the needs of the Bucalag community.
The activity showcased UNP-CTE’s commitment to delivering impactful extension programs and empowering local communities through skills development and capacity building.
