UNP-CGAD leads zumba dance, launches advocacy song to combat VAW

The UNP Center for Gender and Development (CGAD) has actively participated in the ongoing 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), which runs from November 25 to December 12. This year’s campaign sub-theme, “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!” aims to elevate awareness and encourage collective action against violence. The initiative has successfully increased consciousness among all university stakeholders regarding the critical issue of VAW.

As part of the campaign, the university, with CGAD as its driver, organized a “Vow to End VAW Zumba Dance” event on November 29, 2024, it was made possible through the collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the Department of Physical Education (DPE).

This engaging activity served as a reminder and support mechanism to strengthen awareness about VAW within the academic community. Additionally, the launch of the official advocacy song by the university further reinforced its commitment to combating violence against women.

The campaign aligns with national efforts led by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and emphasizes the importance of a united front in eradicating violence. Through various activities, including educational workshops and public demonstrations, participants are encouraged to take actionable steps towards creating a safer environment for all women.
