BS Psych conducts Pre-Practicum Orientation and Seminar-Workshop

The BS Psychology Program at the University of Northern Philippines successfully held its Pre-Practicum Orientation and Seminar-Workshop on Professionalism, Clinical, Educational, and Industrial Psychology Practices, and Personality Development on January 15, 2025 held at Technology Complex Function Hall. 

The program aimed to prepare senior BS Psychology students for their deployment in various settings, such as clinical, educational, and industrial workplaces, while fostering strong work ethics and a deeper understanding of psychology practices.

The event commenced with an inspiring opening message from Mr. Mico Molina, the Program Head of BS Psychology. He emphasized the significance of the practicum experience in bridging academic learning with real-world applications and challenged the students to approach their internships with professionalism and dedication.

The program featured three distinguished speakers, each bringing unique insights into key areas of psychology practice.

The first speaker was Mrs. Maria Corazon De Guzman-Penera, a seasoned Manpower Development and Research Consultant, delivered an engaging discussion on the intricacies of psychological report writing in clinical psychology. She highlighted the importance of accuracy, ethical standards, and critical thinking in crafting comprehensive and reliable psychological reports.

Mrs. Penera was then followed by Mr. Mark Christopher Peña, Administrative Officer V of the Administrative Services-Human Resource Development Division at the Department of Budget and Management, provided an insightful session on HR services and tips for succeeding in on-the-job training in the field of industrial psychology. His talk covered essential HR functions and practical advice for excelling in professional environments.

And finally, Mr. John Noel Fermin, RPm, MAEd, CHRA, RGC, and Director of the Human Development Center at the University of La Salette, Inc., shared his expertise on guidance and counseling services. He also discussed the evolving role and opportunities for guidance counselors in educational settings, inspiring students to consider the impact they could have in this field.

In addition to the guest speakers, the **practicum instructors—Mr. Mico Molina, Mrs. Alexandria Blake C. Real-Pisalbo, and Mrs. Precious Lyn C. Babida—**led the Pre-Practicum Orientation, where they thoroughly discussed the requirements, rules and regulations, and other essential details related to the practicum.

The event proved to be an enriching experience for the students, equipping them with practical knowledge, professional insights, and the motivation to face the challenges of their practicum with confidence and enthusiasm.

The BS Psychology Program remains committed to preparing its students for the demands of real-world psychology practices, ensuring that they graduate not just with knowledge but with the skills and values needed to excel in their chosen careers.
