UNP hosts Canadian delegates of the Winter Escapade

The University of Northern Philippines (UNP) hosted the Canadian Delegates Winter Escapade’s visit to the Heritage City of Vigan on February 13, 2025. A welcome dinner was arranged by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur which also coincided with the Governor’s Night of the 2025 Ilocos Sur Festival. The event was held at the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Center.

Dr. Erwin F. Cadorna, UNP President, expressed his gratitude to Canadian Ambassador Maria Andrelita Austria, and the Console Generals as the University looks forward to opening more partnerships with Canadian schools.

Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines in Canada, Maria Andrelita Austria, expressed her gratitude to the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, and the University of Northern Philippines. She also hopes for increased partnerships, and activities to be started delving on research and innovation  for UNP and Federal Government of Canada.

In addition, Governor Jeremias Jerry C. Singson delivered his message focusing on the heroes of the province. He shared his profound love for the rich history and culture of Ilocos Sur. He warmly welcomed the Canadian delegation and ensured that they will enjoy their visit in the Province.

A cultural show was also held after the Opening program. The UNP Band, and the Danggay Saririt Cultural Dancers performed for the guests. Traditional dances, and songs were performed as a welcome tribute to the Canadian delegation. Further, an exhibit of Ilocano products such as Abel clothing, and Buri bags were available for sale in the venue. The event truly mirrored the warm hospitality, and welcoming spirit of Ilocanos.
