Building healthier futures: UNP’s DSSP primes Hygiene Program at Fuerte Elementary School
The University of Northern Philippines’ Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy conducted on March 5, 2025, at Fuerte Elementary School a program dubbed as “The Body’s Sanctuary: A Guide to Physical Wellness through Personal Hygiene Practices.”
This program strengthens the crucial link between personal hygiene and physical health, while also equipping participants with the practical knowledge needed to promote a healthier lifestyle.
Dr. Chase Mark Suyat, DSSP head, stressed that, “Good hygiene is essential for overall health. Our goal is to provide the students with the knowledge and tools to take care of themselves, boosting their self-esteem and paving the way for a healthier future.” The program displays the department’s continued commitment to advancing health, wellness, and physical education within the community.
The faculty members instilled on the participants the importance of personal hygiene such as handwashing, toothbrushing, nail care, and other important health practices through engaging activities.
The “Body’s Sanctuary” hygiene program at Fuerte Elementary School supports the University of Northern Philippines’ mission by promoting the overall well-being of students and the community. It aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by promoting health. The activity also supports gender equality and follows the priorities of SUCs and GAD (Gender and Development) mandates.
