The Police Community Academy 2.0 (PCA 2.0) held on April 10-11, 2025 at Camp BGen Oscar M. Florendo in Parian, City of San Fernando, La Union was attended by BS Criminology Students and two faculty members of the University of Northern Philippines-College of Criminal Justice Education.
The Commission on Higher Education-Regional Office 1 (CHED RO1) organized the event, which brought together Criminology students, educators, and law enforcement personnel from Region 1 to boost community policing activities and promote leadership abilities. The emphasis activity was on peace education, crime prevention education, and anti-drug strategies and police academy community.
The program featured a number of lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive activities geared on preparing participants for real-world challenges related to crime prevention and community safety.
A key feature was the introduction of the “I-Police e-Buzzer,”a mobile app developed by Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) for monitoring locations, taking emergency calls, and providing information about police stations. Lectures also emphasized leadership ethics, patriotism, and crisis management techniques. PRO 1 officers demonstrated arrest procedures, stop-and-frisk methods, and resistance handling.
Other sessions focused on traffic legislation under Republic Act 4136 also known as “Land Transportation and Traffic Code” as well as prevention measures for teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Participants concluded the day with a campfire wellness workshop.
A road run in the morning kicked off the second day, which was followed by presentations from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on drug education and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) on anti-terrorism insights. The field exercises additionally included hostage rescue operations, crowd control techniques, and counterterrorism strategies.
