The UNP College of Law, in collaboration with the Student Welfare Services Office (SWSO) through the Guidance and Counseling Services (GCS), took decisive action against academic stress by conducting a Stress Management Program entitled “Objection! Overruled: Building a Strong Defense Against Stress in Law School” on May 7, 2025 at the UNP Guestel. The event brought together law students, faculty members, and staff, all eager to strengthen their resilience against the pressures of law school.
The activity aimed to acknowledge the significant workload and intense demands of law school, where students are required to analyze complex cases, master technical details, and make sound decisions under pressure. To address this, Dr. Marifel Acena, Head of SWSO and the learning resource provider, offered participants practical tools for managing stress coming from academic, personal, social, and financial challenges. This initiative empowered faculty members and students to maintain balance and focus throughout their profession and studies.
The program directly supported UNP’s Sustainable Developmental Goals—promotion of mental wellness, mainstreaming gender and development, and ensuring sustainable services for the university community. Organizers highlighted the importance of mental health for future legal professionals, noting that well-equipped graduates are better prepared to uphold justice and serve society. By building a stronger shield against stress, UNP College of Law community continues to set the standard for holistic legal education.
