University of Northern Philippines of Head of Student Welfare Services at the, Dr. Marifel Acena, served as the learning resource provider in the specialized training on Basic Social Work Counseling in the 4Ps Context on May 14, 2025, at the Ovemar Resort Hotel in Sta. Catalina, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
The event that aimed to strengthen the capacity of City and Municipal Links of 4Ps in providing effective case management for 4Ps beneficiaries was organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Development Field Office Cordillera Administrative Region – Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), through its Learning and Development Section,
Dr. Acena’s discussion focused on equipping participants with foundational counseling knowledge and skills, essential for social workers and case managers as they support 4Ps beneficiaries in navigating challenges and accessing needed services.
The initiative, supported by DSWD CAR and the University of Northern Philippines, underscores the commitment to continuous professional development among frontline social workers, ensuring better outcomes for vulnerable families under the 4Ps program.
