The College of Social Work, led by its Dean Prof. Melody T. Gacita, spearheaded an extension activity entitled “Pagbabalik-Tanaw at Pagpapatibay: A Post Evaluation Engagement with ECCD workers” on June 27, 2025, in Suyo, Ilocos Sur.
The primary objective of the activity was to assess the continued relevance and impact of previous ECCD-related extension programs implemented by the academic unit. The event served as a venue for gathering valuable feedback, personal reflections, and updated profiles from ECCD workers regarding their experiences, challenges, and triumphs in delivering early childhood services. Furthermore, the activity aimed to identify key strengths, existing gaps, and actionable recommendations to enhance current service delivery practices. By revisiting past efforts and actively listening to the voices of ECCD workers, the activity fostered a collaborative atmosphere for meaningful dialogue and shared learning.
Ms. Jezinelle Y. Punio, Unit Extension Coordinator, introduced the comprehensive tool designed to evaluate the effectiveness of previously conducted activities. The facilitation of this process was handled by Prof. Lilibeth Castaneda and Ms. Jeanne-lyn Anicoche, ensuring a thorough and inclusive evaluation. Mr. Jay Ar Joshua Tolentino, a faculty member, led the updating of ECCD workers’ profiles, with the assistance of Ms. Kristalyn Garcia and Ms. Sheila De Vera, ensuring that all relevant information were accurately captured.
The activity was further strengthened by the presence of Ms. Carolyn Buenafe, MSWDO-Suyo, and Ms. Rose Bella Villaruz, Social Welfare Officer II. Additionally, Ms. Jevie Abella, Area Coordinator from the University Extension Office, provided oversight and monitoring throughout the event to ensure its smooth execution.
This initiative reflects the college’s ongoing commitment to support and empower Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) workers in the said municipality.
