Consistent with its goal to assist in the academic development of its graduate students, the University of Northern Philippines–Open University held a Special Comprehensive Examination for Master in Public Administration, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Social Work, and Master of Arts in Nursing programs enrollees on July 10 and 11, 2025.
This special test was conducted in consideration of the outcry of students who could not take the prior schedule because of their deployment as frontliners in the recent national and local midterm elections. Included in this are police officers and public school teachers on official duty during the time of the initial exam schedule.
Appreciating the crucial position these professionals hold not only in public service but also in the building of the nation, the Open University extended this opportunity to protect their academic reputation from being adversely affected by factors beyond their control. The examination lasted for two days under rigid monitoring, adhering to the standards and integrity required of graduate level academic requirements.
Dr. Dolores Bersamina, Dean, explained that the initiative embodies the University’s focus on accessibility and flexibility, especially for working students: “We know the plight of our students who serve the public in so many ways. This special examination is our way of making sure that nobody is left behind in their quest for higher learning.”
The successful conduct of the special exam reflects UNP’s ongoing commitment to student-focused policies, academic excellence and its goal of bringing quality education nearer to the people, particularly to those who are already serving the country.
