The University of Northern Philippines has once again brought pride to the Ilocano community after being recognized by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as a Partner Institution for the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE).
The recognition was first conferred on July 21, 2025, during the DOT’s awarding ceremony honoring institutions, individuals, and organizations that have made remarkable contributions and shown unwavering dedication to advancing the FBSE program, one of the Department’s flagship initiatives.
On September 15, 2025, the award was officially presented to the UNP community during the flag-raising ceremony. VP Rolando Navarro and VP Albert Tejero received the award on behalf of the institution, proudly carrying the banner of service excellence that every UNPian upholds. Also present were Dr. Blessie Cabanting, Dean of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM), and Dr. Marjorie Dafun, CHTM faculty and one of the recognized FBSE Trainers in the country.
The Filipino Brand of Service Excellence program highlights the distinct values of Filipino, hospitality, warmth, respect, and genuine care, which continue to make the country stand out in the global tourism and service industry. By being named a partner institution, UNP reaffirms its role not only as a center of learning but also as a model in nurturing and championing these values within the academic community and beyond.
