UNP-MDSO leads First Aid and Medical Support Program for 77th PASWI National Convention in Vigan

The Medical and Dental Services Office of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), in close partnership with the College of Nursing and the College of Health Sciences, spearheaded the First Aid Assistance and Medical Support Program during the 77th Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc. (PASWI) National Convention held on October 21–24, 2025, in Vigan City.

The collaborative initiative aimed to ensure the safety, health, and overall well-being of delegates and participants who attended the four-day national event. A team of skilled nurses, health professionals, and student volunteers from UNP was deployed to provide on-site medical care, first aid response, and health monitoring throughout the duration of the convention.

Beyond offering emergency assistance, the program also highlighted the University’s continuing advocacy for community-centered health initiatives and its proactive role in extending professional expertise beyond the campus. Through this engagement, UNP reaffirmed its strong commitment to service, collaboration, and social responsibility—values that are deeply embedded in its mission to promote holistic development and community well-being.

The initiative played a crucial role in ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of over 3,000 delegates who participated in the national convention. Medical teams were strategically stationed throughout the event to provide immediate first aid, health monitoring, and emergency response services, creating a secure environment for all attendees.

Beyond its service-oriented purpose, the program also served as a valuable experiential learning platform for students from the University of Northern Philippines’ College of Nursing and College of Health Sciences. Under the guidance and supervision of licensed physicians, dentists, and nurses, the students were able to translate classroom theories into practice, enhance their clinical judgment, and strengthen their sense of professional responsibility through hands-on participation in real-world healthcare delivery.
