The University of Northern Philippines’ College of Teacher Education held a send-off session to 37 aspiring educators on November 17 as they embarked on an international teaching journey in Indonesia and Thailand. Part of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization’s (SEAMEO) SEA Teacher Program Batch 11, the month-long initiative, running until December 12, 2025, is designed to cultivate globally competent Filipino teachers ready to make a mark across Southeast Asia.
The participants comprised a diverse mix of future educators, from Bachelor of Secondary Education majors in Filipino, English, Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies, to students pursuing Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Physical Education, and Special Needs Education—highlighting the program’s reach across the full spectrum of teacher preparation.
The 37 pre-service teachers for the SEA Teacher Program Batch 11 will be hosted by eight universities across Indonesia and Thailand. Among those assigned to Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University (VRU) are Charlene Portugal, Joanna Marie Quitlong, Lyeancel Andrea Marie Ragsag, Rocelle Jewel Hufana, Aldrin Antolin Raping, and John Carlo Piano. Meanwhile, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University (CRRU) will welcome Alvin Lloyd Gampayon, Jomarie Lopez, Einstein James Martinez, Jan Vincent Valdez, Joelo Rodriguez, and Jann Rodney Cadaoas.
Rissa Mae Ramboyon and Alicia Jane Cabacungan are set to embark on their teaching internship at Lampang Rajabhat University (LPRU). Meanwhile, Zamantha Pinto, Kristin Nicole Afrolian, Mark Anthony Baptista, and Marvin Llord Rivad will represent the program at Udon Thani Rajabhat University (UDRU). Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) will host Ligaya Azcueta, Kurt John Paul Cariño, Mariah Anne Rafael, Jancel Rivad, Crystalyn Mae Bundoc, and Kristoffer Louie Musa.
Meanwhile, Ashley Romarie Lactoatao, Princess Frando, Mari Mae Sevilleja, Donna Larainne Almazan, Princess Jelliene Grande, and Maina Shane Teñoso are set to undergo training at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS). Rounding out the group, JaJa Gina Fernandez, Germaine Pastor, Lorenz Angelo Tinaza, Everson Sesuca, Hannah Jahzel Martin, Azalea Amistad, and Diana Rose Eligio will be deployed to Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA).
These assignments are part of UNP-CTE’s ongoing efforts to provide its education students with valuable international experience while strengthening collaborative ties within SEAMEO’s regional teacher-training network.
