The University of Northern Philippines’ commitment to excellence was reaffirmed as SOCOTEC Certification Philippines, Inc. successfully concluded its Quality Management System (QMS) Surveillance Audit on November 20–21, 2025, culminating in a formal closing meeting that signaled the completion of the rigorous evaluation process.
During the session, lead auditor Dr. Catherine Sigua presented a detailed summary of the audit, including findings and observations, supported by her fellow auditors, Ms. Gemma Telan and Ms. Hannah Leah Bautista. The closing meeting provided a valuable opportunity for open discussion between the audit team and the university’s management, aligning expectations and clarifying next steps for continuous improvement.
The audit centered on validating operational processes, examining documentary evidence, and confirming that all corrective measures from previous assessments had been effectively carried out. Although not a full reassessment, the surveillance audit plays a vital role in maintaining the institution’s certification and driving continuous quality enhancement. Throughout the session, auditors outlined key results, noting both strong performance areas and opportunities for further improvement. Impressively, the University of Northern Philippines registered no minor or major non-conformities, leading to a formal recommendation for recertification.
The audit team also lauded the exemplary leadership demonstrated by UNP’s top management, headed by University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, citing their proactive, transparent, and quality-oriented governance. This commendation signified not only the institution’s adherence to international standards but also the strong culture of collaboration, discipline, and shared commitment that defines the university community. According to the auditors, the results affirm UNP’s capability to sustain a resilient and well-integrated Quality Management System while continuously fostering an environment that values improvement, innovation, and accountability in all levels of operation.
In response, UNP President Dr. Cadorna expressed his heartfelt gratitude to every faculty member, staff, and administrator for their dedication and contributions throughout the audit process. “The progress we achieve as a university is the result of the collective dedication of everyone who calls UNP their home,” Dr. Cadorna emphasized. He reminded the university community that while this achievement is significant, the pursuit of improvement is ongoing, and every effort, whether big or small, fuels the institution’s growth and strengthens its reputation.
As UNP celebrates this milestone, the message is clear: the university will continue to pursue higher standards, strengthen its systems, and empower its people, ensuring that UNP remains a beacon of quality education both nationally and globally. The recent audit serves not only as recognition of the university’s achievements but also as motivation to reach even greater heights in the years ahead.
