The University of Northern Philippines has taken a significant step toward realizing its Smart Campus vision with the conduct of the “Digitalizing Accountability: Workshop on Property and Inventory Management System” on November 25, 2025, at the Property and Supply Management Office. Organized by the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) with the support of the Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration and facilitated by BSTech Solutions trainers, the workshop marked a major move toward digital transformation and improved institutional efficiency.
Unlike traditional training sessions, the workshop underscored UNP’s strong commitment to modern governance and institutional transformation. It provided one of the most extensive and practical capacity-building engagements for supply officers and administrative personnel—those who will directly operate the new system. Participants gained hands-on experience navigating the enterprise-wide database, equipping them with the tools to streamline asset management and transition from labor-intensive manual processes to a more efficient, automated workflow.
The initiative carries implications far deeper than improved workflow. By establishing a smart, digitized record of its property and inventory, UNP is reinforcing its commitment to data security, operational transparency, and full compliance with government audit standards. Returning to manual, handwritten logs for billions worth of assets and the resources funneled into modern projects would be a step back from the level of accountability expected in today’s institutions.
This development also highlights UNP’s early and deliberate embrace of digital solutions as it moves toward its vision of a Smart Campus—an environment that is intelligent, sustainable, and ready for the demands of the future. More than a routine technical upgrade, the workshop became a testament to UNP’s dedication to shaping that future. It demonstrated how innovation and responsibility can work side by side in defining the next era of higher education.
The University’s Property Office is headed by Mr. Larry Quilala, while the Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) is led by Dr. Shareen Navarro, whose coordinated guidance has been central in advancing the institution’s digital transformation efforts.
