CAS re-launches TAHANAN Mental Health Hub

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) officially re-launched TAHANAN (Mental Health Hub): The Safe Headspace Project on January 29, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to advancing mental health awareness, resilience, and holistic well-being among members of the academic community.

Originally introduced in 2024, TAHANAN was established to provide a safe and inclusive space for students and faculty members while promoting psychosocial support services across the campus. The recent re-launch signaled both a renewal of advocacy and a strategic enhancement of the program, focusing on wider engagement, updated service frameworks, and alignment with evolving mental health needs, evidence-based practices, and emerging policies and technologies.

Through the revitalized TAHANAN hub, CAS aims to ensure the continuity of accessible mental health services while strengthening its long-standing mission of providing psychosocial assistance to the university population.

The initiative also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which calls for promoting healthy lives and ensuring well-being for people of all ages. By fostering a mentally healthy learning environment, the program contributes to developing resilience among students and faculty, equipping them to manage academic demands and personal challenges more effectively.

The re-launching activity was led by Officer-in-Charge Dean Dr. Grace Garcia in collaboration with BS Psychology Program Head Dr. Christian Gea Florentino. The project was implemented through the BS Psychology Program, with the participation of CAS program heads, Psychology faculty members, and non-teaching personnel.

With the renewed implementation of TAHANAN, the College of Arts and Sciences strengthens its resolve to make mental health care an integral component of university life, one that addresses immediate concerns while cultivating long-term well-being, compassion, and holistic development for its academic community.
