The University of Northern Philippines delivered a resounding statement of academic leadership as two programs under its College of Teacher Education clinched Level IV Re-accredited status—the highest distinction awarded by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP).
Sealed through the official Technical Review and Board Action released by AACCUP Executive Director Dr. Milabel Ho and formally received by UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, the achievement shows UNP’s relentless pursuit of excellence, quality assurance, and national distinction in teacher education.
This recognition affirms UNP’s sustained commitment to quality assurance, outcomes-based education, and continuous improvement. It reflects the University’s consistent efforts to align its academic programs, policies, and systems with national and international standards, ensuring that instruction, research, and extension services remain relevant, effective, and responsive to societal needs.
Under the College of Teacher Education, the Bachelor in Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) and the Bachelor in Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) were awarded Level IV Re-accredited status. This prestigious recognition highlights the programs’ outstanding performance in instruction, research, community engagement, faculty expertise, and outcomes-based education. The distinction not only reinforces the college’s reputation for academic excellence but also boosts the employability and professional competitiveness of its graduates.
Meanwhile, three academic programs under the College of Teacher Education—the Bachelor in Physical Education (BPE), Bachelor in Special Needs Education (BSPEd), and the Master of Arts in Technology and Livelihood Education major in Home Economics (MATLE) —earned Level I accreditation after successfully meeting the standards set during the AACCUP accreditation visit held on September 1–3, 2025. The milestone affirms the college’s commitment to academic excellence, as these programs continue to strengthen their respective fields by producing competent physical educators, nurturing inclusive and responsive teachers, and advancing professional expertise in technology and livelihood education.
The recent accreditation successes at UNP are the result of a collaborative effort led by College Dean Dr. Ma Teresa Susan Manzano, along with program heads Dr. Jojit Aquino (BTVTEd and BTLEd), Dr. Jeanina Batin (MATLE), Dr. Matilde Concordia (BPE), Mr. Christian Dem Haluber (BSNEd), faculty members, and support staff. These achievements have significantly strengthened faculty development, enhanced instructional practices, boosted research productivity, and expanded engagement in extension and innovation initiatives. Beyond academic excellence, the accreditation reinforces UNP’s institutional credibility, builds stakeholder confidence, supports evidence-based planning, opens avenues for partnerships and grants, and positions the University to sustain its commitment to deliver quality, accessible, and socially responsive higher education.
