The UNP College of Engineering’s Agrimensores Club made the university proud after earning 1st Runner-Up in the PaGElingan Quiz Bee Competition during the 10th Annual Northern Luzon Geodetic Engineering Students Conference (NLGESC) held on February 7–8, 2026 at the Theophile Verbist Hall of Saint Louis University, Baguio City.
Representing UNP’s Agrimensores Club, the official student organization of the Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering program, Angela Kate Pescador, Nicolette Cortez, and Samantha Nicole Yere showcased their knowledge and competitive skills against teams from five universities across Northern Luzon. Their strong performance earned them a 1st Runner-Up finish, highlighting the academic competence and preparation of UNP’s geodetic engineering students.
The quiz bee stood out as one of the conference’s premier academic highlights, strongly reflecting the theme “Masakbayan: Seeing Beyond Maps – A Decade of Shaping a Better Future.” Beyond testing theoretical mastery, the competition provided a dynamic platform for students to apply technical concepts, analyze real-world scenarios, and demonstrate problem-solving skills. It further reinforced an understanding of geodetic engineering not merely as a technical discipline, but as a crucial contributor to national development, infrastructure planning, environmental management, and the shaping of a more sustainable future.
The UNP College of Engineering delegation was led by Engr. Norberto Aquino II, adviser of the Agrimensores Club, and composed of 16 students under the leadership of club president Clause Jake Raguro. Notably, the participation of fourth-year students enriched the delegation’s overall engagement, providing them with meaningful exposure to inter-university academic exchange and valuable opportunities for professional networking—broadening their learning experience beyond the confines of the classroom.
Dr. Erwin Cadorna, University President, expressed his pride in the students’ accomplishment, noting that their performance reflects UNP’s commitment to academic excellence and competitive engineering education. Dr. Nelia Verzosa, Dean of the College of Engineering, likewise lauded the students and their adviser for their dedication and preparation, emphasizing that such achievements affirm the college’s efforts to nurture competent, confident, and nationally competitive geodetic engineers.
