Carrying the theme “Games as Innovative Tools for Teaching Science,” the webinar gathered educators, researchers, and students from both institutions to explore innovative approaches to science instruction through game-based learning. A key highlight of the event was the active participation of UNP Science Education students from the Master of Science in Teaching Chemistry and Bachelor of Secondary Education major in science programs. Representing the Master of Science in Teaching Chemistry program were Kathleen Rafanan and Kelvin Salanio, they delivered a presentation on “Lesson Study in Chemistry: Collaborating to Enhance Learning, One Game at a Time.” Meanwhile, Alvin Lloyd Gampayon (BSEd Science) together with Jeffrey Martinez (MST Chemistry) delivered a presentation on “R&D in Science Education: Developing Games to Enhance Learners’ Engagement.”
Their sessions demonstrated innovation, collaboration, and a strong commitment to making science learning more engaging and meaningful for students. The participation of UNP’s graduate and undergraduate students reflects the university’s dedication to developing future-ready science educators equipped with both content expertise and creative pedagogy. This successful international collaboration further strengthens the academic partnership between UNP and UNMUL and reaffirms their shared commitment to advancing science education beyond borders.
