The University of Northern Philippines once again underscored its academic excellence as all candidates from its Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Services (BSEHS) program achieved a flawless 100 percent passing rate in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) NC II assessment conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Tarlac City from March 3 to 20, 2026.
The achievement represents a major milestone for the graduating cohort, as all 126 students met the rigorous competency standards for national certification in emergency medical services. Their success shows their preparedness to deliver critical pre-hospital care, effectively respond to emergency situations, and ensure the safe transport of patients—qualifying them as capable first-aiders, medical responders, and ambulance care assistants.
Following TESDA’s standardized guidelines, the assessment at Ecumenical Christian College, Inc. was carried out in three organized phases. Batch IV-A completed the evaluation from March 3 to 7, Batch IV-B from March 10 to 13, and Batch IV-C from March 17 to 20, 2026, demonstrating a systematic approach that ensured every student was thoroughly tested.
The strong performance of the students was supported by months of preparation. In December 2025, they underwent an intensive week-long Emergency Medical Technician training facilitated by an external service provider. This was followed by a reinforcement review in February 2026 conducted by BSEHS faculty members to further strengthen their knowledge and practical skills before the national assessment.
As part of the BSEHS curriculum, the EMS NC II assessment is regularly undertaken to ensure that students acquire industry-recognized competencies and are better prepared for professional practice after graduation. The accomplishment also reflects the program’s contribution to the development of a skilled health workforce and its continuing commitment to quality instruction and employability.
The successful conduct of the assessment was led by Prof. Maria Yolanda Aquino, Program Head, and Prof. Leila Sylvia Bautista, RLE Coordinator, with the support of Assistant Dean Prof. Alfredo Corpuz, CHS Dean Dr. Joussie Bermio, and UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna.
