UNP-CCJE, BFP Caoayan ignite Fire Safety Awareness

The University of Northern Philippines-College of Criminal Justice Education (UNP-CCJE) in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Caoayan, spearheaded a “Seminar-Workshop on Fire Safety at Home” on April 11, 2026, at Pantay Tamorong, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur, the event empowered residents with life-saving skills to prevent and fight household fires.

Under the theme “Sa Pag-iwasa sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa,” as part of CCJE’s Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) program, it drew BPAT members, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), barangay officials, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders.

Participants tackled common fire hazards—faulty wiring, unattended cooking, flammable storage—with prevention strategies like inspections and safe habits. Hands-on drills taught extinguisher mastery: type selection, TPASS technique (Twist, Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), safe distancing, and post-use checks for confident response.

The event was made possible by FSSUPT Ramel B. Borja (Provincial Fire Marshal) via SFO4 Eric P. Quilana (Caoayan Municipal Fire Marshal) and coordinated with Barangay Captain Hon. Stanley Quintal, the event fostered community-wide fire readiness.
