UNP welcomes AACCUP evaluators for Level IV Accreditation Survey Visit

The University of Northern Philippines formally welcomed the accreditation team from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) for the Level IV, Second Cycle Accreditation Survey Visit, which commenced on June 17 and will run until June 19, 2026.

The survey visit covers the following academic programs: Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Bachelor of Science Biology, Master of Science in Teaching major in Chemistry and Physics, and Master of Arts in Mathematics Education.

The three-day evaluation marks a significant milestone in the University’s continuing pursuit of the highest standards in instruction, research, extension, and institutional performance.

The opening program set a tone of excellence and institutional pride as Dr. Rolando Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs, formally welcomed the accreditation team and participants, emphasizing the significance of the survey visit in advancing the University’s pursuit of higher standards in education and public service. This was followed by an inspirational message from University President Dr. Erwin Cadorna who reaffirmed UNP’s unwavering commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence, and transformative learning. Both officials highlighted the University’s sustained efforts toward continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability, emphasizing accreditation as a vital mechanism for strengthening institutional performance and ensuring that UNP remains responsive to the evolving demands of higher education and nation-building.

Also present during the opening program were Dr. Ma. Teresa Susan L. Manzano, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, together with the college’s program heads, faculty members, and staff, and Dr. Grace Garcia, Officer-in-Charge Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, accompanied by the college’s program heads, faculty, and staff. Joining them were university officials, administrators, internal accreditors, and personnel from various academic and administrative units.

The statement of purpose and accreditation procedures was presented by Dr. Job Paguio, Coordinator for Cluster I from Bataan Peninsula State University. He outlined the objectives of the survey visit and the processes that would guide the evaluation of the programs.

The accreditation team for Cluster I is composed of Dr. Job Paguio as Coordinator; Dr. Renelda Nacianceno as team leader and Dr. Carmen Cruzata as lead accreditor for the Bachelor of Elementary Education program; Dr. Lourdes Santos as team leader and Prof. Normita Lugtu as lead accreditor for the Bachelor of Secondary Education program; and Dr. Anabell Aban Gacayan as team leader and Dr. Hannah Castillon as lead accreditor for the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program.

For Cluster II, Dr. Jaime Forbes of Bataan Peninsula State University serves as Coordinator. The accreditation team includes Dr. Rodolfo Burac Jr. as team leader and Dr. Carlo Vadil as lead accreditor for the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program; Dr. Maribel Tizo as team leader and Dr. Glenda Abad as lead accreditor for the Bachelor of Science in Political Science program; Dr. Romeo Quintos as team leader and Dr. Marc  Garvida as lead accreditor for the Master of Arts in Mathematics Education program; and Prof. Karen Andres as team leader and Dr. Leandro Olubia as lead accreditor for the Master of Science in Teaching program.

Over the course of the three-day survey visit, the University will showcase its accomplishments, best practices, and continuing commitment to quality, improvement in research, performance of its graduates, community service, internationalization and planning process. The visit will also provide an opportunity for the institution to receive valuable recommendations from external evaluators that will further strengthen its academic programs and ensure their responsiveness to the evolving needs of learners and society.

These initiatives underscore the collective commitment of the entire UNP community to quality assurance, academic excellence, innovation, and service, reaffirming its role as a top performing higher educational institution in the region and beyond.
