The University of Northern Philippines, through the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension, conducted an extension activity at Nagsincaoan Elementary School on July 29, 2026, equipping young learners with essential life skills while providing free grooming services.
The outreach program featured a series of interactive lectures designed to cultivate responsible digital citizenship, personal development, and leadership among elementary pupils. Faculty members from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) led the learning sessions, reinforcing the University’s mission of extending knowledge beyond the classroom and into partner communities.
Dr. Shareen Navarro, Ms. Illah Diva Faypon, Dr. Ana Leah Alconis, and Mr. Paul Richard Martin served as resource speakers for the lectures titled “Beyond the Screen: Training on Practicing Courtesy in Digital Communication” and “Empowering Young Leaders through Proper Grooming Standards and Personality Development Training.” Through engaging discussions and practical insights, the speakers encouraged pupils to practice respect and responsibility in online interactions while nurturing confidence, discipline, and positive character in their daily lives.
Complementing the educational sessions was a free haircut service for the pupils, spearheaded by Dr. Randall Rabacal, University Extension Office (UEO) Coordinator for Advocacy and Research Dissemination, with the assistance of professional barber Mr. Larry Rimarim of Cuancabal, Cabugao. The initiative promoted proper grooming and personal hygiene, helping boost the children’s self-esteem.
The lectures were facilitated by Dr. Eileen Rose Paculan, CBAA Extension Coordinator, together with Ms. Karen Calaycay, ensuring the smooth conduct of the learning activities.
Overall coordination of the extension program was led by Prof. May Evelia Ruadap, UEO Coordinator for Livelihood and Training Services, whose efforts brought together the University’s extension personnel and partner stakeholders in delivering impactful community services.
The activity was warmly welcomed by Nagsincaoan Elementary School, headed by Principal Ms. Rosemelinda Baclig, reflecting the school’s continued partnership with UNP in advancing learner development through education, community service, and shared commitment to nation-building.
Through initiatives such as this, the University of Northern Philippines continues to strengthen its extension mandate by empowering communities with relevant knowledge, practical skills, and compassionate service—creating meaningful and lasting impacts beyond the University campus.
