The University of Northern Philippines, through its Human Resource Management Office, welcomed its newly hired Job Order employees through a comprehensive orientation program held on August 17, 2026 at the QMS Function Room.
The activity was designed to equip the new members of the University workforce with essential information on their roles, responsibilities, workplace policies, and the standards of professionalism expected as they begin their service to the UNP community.
Welcoming the newly hired Job Order employees, Ms. Antonina Lazaro, Head of the Human Resource Management Office, expressed her confidence in their potential to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and success of the University of Northern Philippines. She emphasized that joining the UNP workforce entails not only fulfilling assigned duties but also demonstrating a strong sense of commitment and accountability while remaining faithful to the University’s core values. Ms. Lazaro encouraged the new employees to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism, integrity, and dedication as they become part of the University’s collective pursuit of excellence in public service and education.
Echoing the words of the University President, she reminded the newly hired employees that becoming part of the UNP workforce also means becoming members of a larger academic community bound by a shared mission and set of values. “You are now part of the UNP family as employees,” she said, stressing that they are expected to demonstrate genuine commitment to the University and embody its core values in the discharge of their duties and in their interactions with the wider UNP community.
Dr. Ruben Ragunjan, Head of the Campus Security Services Office, provided the newly hired employees with an overview of the University’s campus traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing their shared responsibility in promoting a safe, orderly, and secure academic environment. He emphasized the importance of discipline and strict adherence to established traffic and security protocols, noting that the cooperation of every member of the University community is essential in maintaining order and ensuring the safety and well-being of all on campus.
Ms. Renee Grace Tungpalan discussed the University’s Gender and Development (GAD) policies, providing the newly hired employees with insights into the principles and initiatives that guide UNP’s commitment to equality and inclusion. She emphasized the University’s responsibility to uphold individual rights and foster a culture of respect while supporting gender-responsive programs and practices in the campus. The session further reinforced the importance of every employee’s participation in helping build a more inclusive and responsive University community.
Ms. Edzen Kaye Riotoc and Ms. Lazaro led a comprehensive orientation on the University’s organizational structure, institutional policies, workplace rules, and the roles and expectations governing Job Order personnel. Their session also familiarized the newly hired employees with UNP’s vision, mission, and core values, reinforcing the institution’s enduring commitment to excellence in public service and quality education.
More than an introductory activity, the orientation provided a meaningful platform for integrating the new employees into the UNP community and equipping them with a clearer understanding of their responsibilities as members of the University workforce. The session highlighted the importance of professionalism, accountability, teamwork, mutual respect, and dedication—values essential to the effective performance of their duties and to the collective pursuit of the University’s institutional goals.
