The UNP College of Teacher Education hosted a seminar titled, “Enhancing the Test-taking Skills of Pre-service Teachers” at Academic Building 1. The event featured topnotchers from the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT) namely, Dr. Edmar Paguiran, Ms. Ma. Erika Lara Alconcel, and Ms. Nicole Joy Cabato. These esteemed guests shared their insights and strategies to help the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) graduating students prepare for the licensure exam.
Dr. Paguiran emphasized goal setting, collecting review materials, and scheduling review sessions. He also provided ten sample board exam questions to aid students in their preparation, while Ms. Alconcel shared nine key factors for becoming a topnotcher, highlighting essential items like nuts, bananas, chocolates, Vitamin B complex, water, and Katinko. And finally, Ms. Cabato offered practical tips such as eliminating incorrect answers, practicing mindfulness, and double-checking responses.
Dr. Ma. Teresa Susan Manzano, the college dean, delivered an inspirational message, commending the BEEd Program, led by Dr. Eleuteria Pacpaco, for organizing the seminar. This initiative aligns with UNP’s goal of making a mark in the national arena by enhancing the skills of pre-service teachers. The seminar emphasized the importance of strategic preparation and mental well-being in achieving success in the licensure examination.
