The College of Arts and Sciences celebrated the culminating activity of the BS Biology major in Medical Biology practicum on September 16, 2025.
The event recognized the accomplishments of 81 third-year Biology students who successfully completed their On-the-Job Training (OJT)/practicum. Beyond fulfilling an academic requirement, the practicum served as a meaningful avenue for hands-on learning, professional development, and the application of classroom knowledge in real-world settings.
Certificates of completion were conferred upon all participants, with special awards presented to students who demonstrated outstanding performance during their training. The University also extended its gratitude to partner agencies for their invaluable support and mentorship, honoring them with tokens of appreciation. Among the recognized institutions were the Philippine Red Cross (Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur Chapters), City Veterinary Office, Provincial Health Office, Provincial Veterinary Office, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Department of Agriculture–CAR, as well as the UNP Clinic and UNP Hospital’s Dental, Pharmacy, and Laboratory units.
Program representatives commended the students for their dedication and resilience, emphasizing that the activity stood as a testament not only to academic achievement but also to the University’s broader commitment to advance global goals—promoting quality education, fostering decent work opportunities, reducing inequalities, and strengthening partnerships.
The students’ practicum journey was made more meaningful under the guidance of their OJT instructors—Dr. Charo Rojas, Ms. Diana Simbe, and Ms. Gay Anne Seguritan—whose mentorship proved instrumental in honing their skills and fostering their professional growth.
The culminating activity closed on a high note, celebrating the shared efforts of students, faculty, staff, OJT instructors, and partner institutions in shaping the future of Biology professionals.
