BS Environmental Planning Students Join Youth-Led Sustainability Drive in Vigan

The 4th Year BS Environmental Planning students of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) – College of Architecture actively took part in an environmental initiative, “The Art of Sorting: Bin Painting for Sustainability,” on August 28, 2025, at Plaza Salcedo.

The activity formed part of Linggo ng Kabataan 2025, spearheaded by the City Government of Vigan through the Panlungsod na Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan – Vigan, and celebrated from August 25 to 31. The weeklong observance highlighted the Bigueño youth’s contributions to cultural development, the arts, and environmental advocacy.

In the spirit of collaboration, UNP students joined fellow volunteers and young artists in transforming ordinary trash bins into colorful and meaningful artworks. Each design served as a visual reminder of proper waste segregation and the importance of sustainability in the community.

The project not only promoted awareness on solid waste management but also emphasized the role of young people as catalysts for change. By merging creativity with environmental action, the initiative empowered participants to make a tangible impact in promoting greener practices within the city.
