BS Info Tech seniors all set for practicum
To explicate the nature, importance, and right attitude towards experiential learning of fourth year BS InfoTech students, the College of Communication and Information Technology spearheaded an orientation program at the UNP Hostel on March 12, 2024.
The event, tagged as “Dunong, Husay, at Ugali: An Extensive Practicum Orientation Program for BS Information Technology Students,” gathered about 125 students who are about to be deployed in their respective workplaces for their practicum.
Dr. Eva Marie C. Avila, Director of the Quality Assurance Office, served as the resource speaker. She highlighted the significance of dunong (knowledge), husay (competence) and ugali (character) as the functional bedrock to hurdle difficulties as they begin their practicum journey.
She specifically focused on ugali (character) which could spell success in whatever journey the students may traverse, even quoting the golden rule “Do unto others what you would like others do unto you.”
Dr. Rolando B. Navarro, Vice President for Academic Affairs on the other hand, articulated his pabaon to the students.
In his opening remarks, he pointed that his pabaon is not the usual provision of monetary value, but a recollection of all the knowledge, skills, and attitudes which the University has equipped them. As such, they are expected to apply these learnings in the actual workplace to further hone their craft.
Practicum is part of the curriculum of the BS InfoTech program and is offered every second term. The fourth-year students are set to start their practicum on March 18, 2024 in their respective cooperating agency/industry.
