The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSMLS) program of the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) met with Barangay Captain Kristofferson Monis of Barangay Lungog on March 28, 2025, to discuss the implementation of sustainable health programs for the community.
The meeting focused on the BSMLS extension project, “Kalusugan Panatilihin, Healthy Lifestyle Ugaliin,” which aims to address health concerns in the barangay. To figure out the specific needs of the residents, faculty members, along with barangay officials, conducted an ocular survey in Sitio Kakaldingan and other areas. A needs assessment survey was also distributed to gather data on the most common health issues faced by the community.
The information collected will guide the planning of health-related activities, including medical check-ups, hygiene education, and disease prevention initiatives. The project was designed to provide residents with access to essential health information and services, ensuring that programs are aligned with their actual needs.
This partnership between UNP-BSMLS and Barangay Lungog marks the initial phase of the extension project. Future activities will be scheduled based on the survey results, with both parties working together to implement targeted health interventions for the community.
