BTVTEd program kicks off extension in Santa

The Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education of the College of Teacher Education started its extension program in Bucalag, Santa, Ilocos Sur through a pre-assessment/community mapping and profiling on March 21, 2024.

Anchored on CTE’s Securing FUTURE flagship project, BTVTEd’s livelihood and skills training program started with the conduct of a pre- assessment activity regarding the needs of the target community, as well as a presentation of the drafted MOA to the beneficiaries.

The said activity was spearheaded by the BTVTEd faculty members, namely: Dr. Jojit D. Aquino, Dr. Dave Fontejon, Dr. Jake Quitasol, Mr. Norman Naval, and Mr. Reynaldo Regucera, as well as Mr. Randall Rabacal (coordinator for Community Social Services of the University Extension Office). It was in response to the request of the constituents of the said barangay through the initiative of their Punong Barangay, Marco De Peralta.

Meanwhile, the pre-assessment activity determined the skills of the barangay constituents on house-wiring installation and maintenance, as well as domestic appliance troubleshooting and repairing. Results will thereafter serve as the basis in drafting the program activities to be offered to the beneficiaries.

The group also presented the drafted MOA to the officials of the said barangay for consultation.

Mr. Marco D. de Peralta, Punong Barangay, expressed his thanks to the University for responding to their request for assistance in the conduct of livelihood and skills training for his constituents.

He said that this activity will be very beneficial to them, for it will provide more opportunities and additional source of income out of whatever skills they can get from the activity.
