CAS faculty shares expertise on psychtalks through online podcast

The College of Sciences, Technology and Communications (CSTC) – School of Psychology and Human Services, hosted a thought-provoking podcast titled “Cancelled Ka Na! Intolerance in the Digital Age: Cyberbullying and Online Hate” on November 30, 2024.

Mr. Mico Molina, head of BS Psychology program, from UNP-CAS was invited as a resource speaker. This virtual event aimed to honor International Tolerance Day and Anti-Bullying Month and was streamed live on Facebook, providing an accessible platform for the college students and community to engage in meaningful discussions.

The program centered on addressing the pervasive issues of cyberbullying and online hate in today’s digital landscape. Through a Question-and-Answer format, Mr. Molina shared insights on understanding the root causes of online intolerance, its impact on mental health, and strategies to navigate and mitigate such online challenges. Participants also explored the importance of fostering tolerance and inclusivity in digital spaces.

Through platforms like podcasts, the BS Psychology program strengthens its commitment to their Extension Program flagship’s Project Hiraya’s core components—Kaalaman, which focuses on enriching knowledge and raising awareness, and Katatagan, which advocates for resilience and mental well-being, as well as to Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), where the importance of mental health advocacy is emphasized. The podcast served as an avenue to educate the public on the risks of online hate and provide tools for promoting healthy and respectful online interactions.

The BS Psychology program extends its gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and viewers who made this event a success. Together, we can build a more tolerant and compassionate digital community.
