The College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Northern Philippines expanded its outreach efforts by bringing a dynamic Career Campaign to public secondary schools in the 1st and 2nd districts of Ilocos Sur on March 6, 2026. The initiative sought to empower senior high school students with vital information and guidance as they begin making crucial decisions about their future academic pursuits and career paths.
To maximize its reach in the province, the CAS team split into two groups—one engaging students in schools within the 1st District while the other simultaneously carried out the campaign in the 2nd District—ensuring that more aspiring learners could benefit from the university’s career orientation and academic opportunities.
The first group carried out a series of career orientation sessions in several public secondary schools across the 1st District of Ilocos Sur. The campaign began at Ilocos Sur National High School, under Principal Ms. Editha Bagcal, where senior high school students were introduced to the academic offerings and career pathways available at UNP.
The team then continued its outreach to Vigan West National High School under the leadership of Principal Mr. Glenn Tadena, followed by visits to Lussoc National High School, Naglaoa-an National High School, and Magsingal National High School.
Expanding their reach, the group also conducted sessions at Vigan East National High School, under Principal Ms. Anita Presto; Pug-os National High School, under Principal Ms. Velma Repollo; and San Juan National High School, where Officer-in-Charge Marjorie Romias warmly welcomed the team. Through these engagements, the campaign connected with numerous senior high school students, equipping them with valuable insights into UNP’s academic programs and helping them make informed decisions about their future educational and career paths.
Representing CAS in the 1st District were Mr. Jerome Mecca, Dr. Eva Marie Avila, Dr. Christy Venezuela, Mr. Mico Molina, Ms. Ciela Marie Pacopia, Dr. Rhosechelle Riboroso, Mr. Jeem Carlo Pula, and Mr. Norie Tactay, who introduced the different programs offered by the college and shared information about college preparation and future career opportunities.
Meanwhile, the second group conducted the campaign in the 2nd District, visiting Teodoro Hernaez National High School, headed by Principal Mr. Danilo Quitoriano, Candon National High School, under Principal Mr. Marino Galimba, Mabilbila Integrated School, under Principal Juliet Aquino, Narvacan National Central High School, headed by Principal Dr. Christian Giron, Tagudin National High School, headed by Principal Mr. Mardencio Valdez, and San Esteban National High School, under Principal Dr. Maria Donalene Burgos-Bernal.
The 2nd District CAS team was composed of Dr. Christian Gea Florentino, Dr. Marifel Acena, Dr. Mariquit Obrero, Dr. Charo Rojas, Dr. Archie Martinez, Dr. Mary Loreen Cayabyab, Dr. Jill Ann Paranada, Dr. Ismael Rivera, and Mr. Antonio Ayop, who actively engaged students in discussions about academic opportunities and the importance of choosing a program aligned with their interests and strengths.
During the campaign, students were given the opportunity to learn more about the programs offered by CAS and to ask questions about college life, admissions, and career pathways. The activity also strengthened the partnership between the university and secondary schools across the province.
Through initiatives like this, the College of Arts and Sciences continues to bring information closer to students and inspire them to pursue higher education. By visiting schools in Ilocos Sur, CAS hopes to empower young learners to confidently plan for their future and discover the many opportunities that await them in college.
