CAS leads tree planting
The College of Arts and Sciences, through its Academic Programs, spearheaded the “Green Legacy: A Tree Planting Activity” in Raois, Vigan City on October 17, 2024. This event is part of the College’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and contribute to the global goal of combating climate change by restoring green spaces within the community.
The tree-planting initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land), by supporting ecosystem restoration through the planting of native species such as Pterocarpus indicus (narra).
The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Vigan City and key student organizations, including the Students of Arts and Sciences Organization, the Biology Society, and the Young Vanguards of the Environment.
