CBAA strengthens local entrepreneurship with Embutido and Cost Management Training in San Juan

Aspiring entrepreneurs took a significant step toward business success as the College of Business Administration and Accountancy spearheaded the “From Kitchen to Market: Empowering Entrepreneurs through Embutido Making and Cost Management Training” on March 27, 2025 at Solotsolot National High School, San Juan, Ilocos Sur. This initiative, under the B.U.S.I.N.E.S.S. in the Communities Program, aimed to equip participants with essential culinary and financial management skills to foster sustainable local enterprises.

The training that combined hands-on food production with financial literacy provided participants with both the technical expertise to make high-quality embutido and the business acumen to price their products competitively.

Dr. Rozen Villa, an expert in food processing, led the embutido-making session, guiding participants through the proper techniques, ingredients selection, and food safety standards, while Atty. Anna Karizza Rialubin conducted a discussion on costing and pricing strategies, ensuring that trainees understood how to determine production costs and set profitable yet competitive prices.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Eileen Paculan and Prof. May Evelia Ruadap, with Dr. Erwin Tolbe and Ms. Mary Ann Dela Cruz overseeing the program’s organization. Their collective efforts ensured a well-structured and impactful training that empowered attendees to turn a simple home-cooked dish into a market-ready product.

By bridging culinary skills with business strategies, this initiative not only provided participants with livelihood opportunities but also encouraged sustainable local entrepreneurship. The program reinforced the importance of innovation, cost management, and product quality in building a successful food business, marking another milestone in community economic development.

“This training gave me the confidence to start my own food business, turning my passion for cooking into a real opportunity,” shared one participant, highlighting the program’s transformative impact.

With initiatives like this, communities in Ilocos Sur are taking bold strides toward economic empowerment, proving that with the right skills and knowledge, local businesses can thrive in the modern marketplace.
