The University of Northern Philippines College of Criminal Justice Education (UNP-CCJE) in collaboration with the University Research Development Office (URDO), spearheaded its first ever Research Colloquium with the theme “Recognize, Respond, Reform: Effective Strategies for Crime Prevention and Community Well-being” on March 28 at the CCJE Function Hall.
Headed by Dr. Sina Bestre, CCJE Dean, the program highlighted the university’s commitment to intensifying functional research and development, with a target of achieving at least three regional fora or conferences.
The Board of Judges, Chaired by Dr. Dolores Bersamina, Dean of the Open University, together with Dr. Abelardo Anicas, Program Head of the College of Public Administration, and Mrs. Sheila De Vera, faculty member of the College of Social Work. Thirteen student-conducted research topics were presented during the colloquium, which also gave the students a chance to practice collaboration and oral presentation.
Further, students received both Best Paper and Best Presenter Awards as determined by the Board of Judges according to the established criteria. Mr. Clyde Justine Rabara claimed the first place, followed by the second placer Ms. Shaira Mae Bagorio, and Mr. Manuel Mendoza Jr. who garnered the third place.
Moreover, the colloquium stands as a testament to the college’s dedication to preparing students for professional success while addressing societal issues through education and research.
